Ski Resort (Part Two)

1-19-07. 9:58 PM.

Alright..So as you can probably predict, I'm gonna give you a brief summary of my trip in Wisconsin. I'm not gonna try to waste your time as you sit on your lifeless butts just to read what I did over the past weekend. Haha, I'm just kiddin. Anyways, here we go..So we wake up early as can be..Thanks to Dale and his "dog barking" wake up call. I hear a "woof, woof!" I open my eyes slowly to find a humongous nose with a gigantic pair of nostrils, breathing in my face! It was pretty creepy if you ask me..But wait..It wasn't a dog like you would expect! It was Dale..And his monsterous, dangerous, disasterous, sorry of an excuse of what you would call a nose! Haha, don't tell him I said that! ;) *Smirks and laughs* Let's get serious though. After everyone in the room got a shower, we were just about ready to head out to ski. I'm didn't see if anyone got any breakfast, but I'm sure they did. So we got dressed and left the AmericInn within a few short minutes. Bus ride, blah, blah, blah..We get there..Everyone's excited..Well, not everyone, but most of us, or actually, most of "them" were. I guess I was kind of the outsider on the whole trip, considering I was the "Asian, Mexican, or Black Guy". Oh, and also, I supposely stole someone's wallet, but that's a different story..I'm gettin tired of gettin blamed for what I didn't do..This world is full of racism I tell ya..*Sighs as I think about it and shakes head* But as for the trip..A few of us men went inside the food court to watch the Seattle/Chicago game..I was one of the very few who was actually going against Chicago. I think about 75% of the place was from Illinois so that didn't help matters. After an interception on Grossman's half, I was jumping up and down in excitement, cheering the Seahawks. Maybe I spoke to soon..Right after they stepped up to offense, Matt Hasselbeck threw a pick as well as I quieted down and was silent as well as my brother..Everyone was in our faces, talking trash right back to us. It was quite embarassing if you ask me, but it was actually fun having some playful drama with a church group. Anyways, the Bears ended up winning by a field goal in overtime..It was near the 50 yard line..Pretty much a luck kick..Score was 27-24..I was disappointed, but that wasn't the last of it. Could things be any worst? I was going to find out when we got back from the barnyard. We took off to the worship center to have dinner and spend one last night in worship with the brothers and sisters in Christ. After about 3 and a half hours, we concluded the service with a few extra songs that seemed like they never ended. I would say we sung about 30-40 songs! Well, that's maybe overexaggerating, but at least 15-20. The night was about over as we drove home and a lot of us actually did look for the deer we hit the night before. No one was able to find it, so we're guessing it rotted away already? Anyways..We had about an hour and a half or so to spend for freetime. After seeing the score of the New England/San Diego game, I was actually quite surprised, but had a feeling the Patriots would come away with the "W". Score was 24-21. We actually stayed outside of each other's room, basically in the hallway the whole time as everyone spent the last night there having fun. We all acted crazy, ate, drank, and shared a fun time with each other. Overall, we all had fun I think. After a while, I went outside to the bus and grabbed the memorable, slingshot! Yes! The same slingshot that bruised Dale's arms. So we decided it would be best to take it outside since the people respected us and we didn't want to do anything harsh to them. A few of us went outside and shot snowballs, followed up by little donuts, and finally, apples. Yes, apples! Those things went flying! They busted up against the boards in the back of the field and as you probably guessed, there wasn't much left. The slingshot did pop me square in the face, right by my eye though. It hurt, made me do a 360 in mid-air and land on my stomach. It hurt..Real bad..The rubber snapped against my face and I felt blind at first..But whatever, I survived, right? Anyways..As we came back in, everyone was already in their rooms..It was time for bed and as all of our guys came back inside, we were asked to help Dale find the church keys to no avail..We didn't find anything..Luckily, he still had the rest of the keys he actually needed. We had a spare church key, so we were good. The night ended with the rest of us guys talking about the lesson we had in worship and basically call it our devotion of the night..We had a good talk and everyone soon grew dreary and doze off to sleep after a few minutes. Day three, finally over..One day left..

(I'm actually going to go right now, once again, I ran out of time because I've got to eat a "very late" dinner. Our pizzas are here! Anyways, I'll finish later. Take care and God Bless!)

Ski Resort (Part 1)

1-18-07. 9:24 PM

So we're finally back from the ski resort..We've actually been back since Monday night..But I wasn't feeling up to posting a blog since I've been so tired lately..Anyways, lets get to it, shall we?

Day One: Long car ride which seemed like it took a few centuries to arrive there..Thankfully, we were able to stop here and there at the gas station and grab a bite to eat around supper time so we can get off of our butts and stretch. We arrived there around I'd say 10 or 11 at night..After getting our things unpacked in our hotel rooms, no one really felt like doing much, I'm guessing we were all tired..I don't really remember what I did this night..My guess would be I just stayed and chilled out in the hotel..Most of probably did anyways..So it was time for bed..

Day Two: The next morning, we got up, whoever wanted to get breakfast would do so. I had to hop into the shower and wake myself up. After a few minutes, I came out, refreshed. I was ready to ski! Yet, I was very nervous about it and wanted to rethink my decision..So before long, we all boarded the bus and took off to go ski! After about 15-20 minutes, we finally arrived there around 8 or 9..Probably closer to 10 AM. We stood in line for a good wait and everyone about froze to death before even skiing. Once we finally got inside, I finally felt better. I felt heated up, especially considering we had to smush to get inside and stood so close to each other. We got our stuff and were outside ready to ski. After seeing everyone taking off so quickly, I didn't want to be the one who felt left out, but I already knew that skiing just wasn't going to be my thing. My brother and I as well as a few others sat on a bench nearby for a very long time. Maybe I should've practiced a little bit before lessons because when it came down to my turn during our lessons, I fell down for what seemed like half a dozen times! I felt ashamed because I wanted to do it, but I just couldn't continue. After getting down to the bottom of the slope after several tries, I quit..Yes, thought you would never heard John Lam quitting? Me neither..Oh well..At least I had something else to do after an hour or so. We went inside and grabbed something to eat before a whole handful of us left early back to the hotel. A few of us guys sat down to watch the Baltimore/Indy game with the Colts ending up with the victory: 15-6. During halftime, we left to pick up the rest of the group. After about 30 or 40 minutes, we were back at last. We were in a warm place as we went up to our rooms to watch the rest of the game in Bob's room. I was very disappointed though because Baltimore let their chance slip through their fingers and even worst, let the Colts beat them! I won't mention anything about the game Indy had last week either..*Coughs*During the game or actually almost right after it, we piled everyone into the room to spend some time enjoying some pizza and celebrating Andra and Deanna's birthday..Afterwards, we left to go to worship a few minutes after the game and unfortunately, we weren't able to find the place we were supposed to be having worship at. But, one thing that did happen on our way back was that we actually whacked a deer..Not just with anything..But the bus rammed itself into the deer's neck and head! I don't think he's alive anymore..If he's lucky, he's paralized..But I think he's in Deer Heaven right now..But aside from that, we ended up going back to the hotel to spend time with worship there. Luckily and fortunately, we were able to watch the remainder of the Philly/New Orleans game which ended up with the Saints winning 27-24. But as for devotions, we started out with our embarassing moments in which I didn't really have one but the fact that watching an asian ski is embarassing. We spent another hour or so spending time with the group, growing closer to our Lord. After doing this, we all left to our rooms and did whatever for the remaining hour we had before it was time for lights out. I didn't do much so let's end day two here.

(I actually don't have time to finish the rest tonight because I'm getting ready for bed, but I'll finish later on tomorrow or when I get a chance.)

Until then, take care, and God Bless!

There's Always Next Year...

Alright...So Kansas City lost to the Indianapolis Colts..So what? They got lucky..It's alright..It's alright..Unfortunately, Trent Green and Larry Johnson didn't do so well..I'm guessin Larry Johnson was nervous..He choked..But..There was a plus..KC's defense did decently well if you ask me..But aside from that, KC's got 7 or 8 starters who's never played in the playoffs before, so I'm guessin that may have had an effect on em. Maybe? Maybe not. At least I can say they made it this far..Oh well..There's always next year..Trent Green's never played in a Super Bowl before, but if you ask me, I've got that good feeling that next year KC will have Indy's current record, or at least close to it. Super Bowl, 2008, here we come! Until then, take care! God bless!

Playoffs, Here We Come!!

1-4-07

After a great week of football, the Kansas City Chiefs were able to somehow, someway, make it to the playoffs after four things had to go their way.

-Kansas City Chiefs has to beat Jacksonville Jaguars
Kansas City pulls out an amazing upset victory with the score of 35-30.

-Tennessee Titans MUST lose to New England Patriots, AT HOME
New England pulls off a pulverizing win over the Titans: 40-23

After seeing those two things happen, I knew we were half way there. So we had 50% of what we needed, so I waited for the rest of the afternoon and night fly by as I patiently and nervously watched on. The next game was the Pittsburgh Steelers playing the Cincinnati Bengals.

-Pittsburgh Steelers MUST defeat the Cincinnati Bengals AT HOME
After a great game with back and forth action, it was the end of regulation. Tied at 17-17. Now this was it!! Pittsburgh wins the coin toss in overtime as they choose heads. Within a few plays, the game was over! YES! Pittsburgh had done it! They walked away with a victory over the Bengals: 23-17 (OT)

Now, I knew it was done to just one game before it decided the fate of the Chiefs. This was a MUST-WIN game, as were the rest of them from the evening. This one though, was the most I was worried about. San Francisco 49ers to beat the Denver Broncos on their own turf? Pssh! I didn't think they stood a chance, though I wasn't going to count them out just yet!

-San Francisco 49ers MUST come away with a victory over the Denver Broncos AT HOME
My heart was pounding, I was beginning to sweat, sitting uncomfortably on the couch downstairs at the Kelsey's house. I watched patiently and waited for those finals seconds of the game to see who would walk away with the "W". I closed my eyes and before I knew it, my heart sank, and I knew something was wrong. It was the end of regulation! 23-23! How in the world did San Fran stand a chance with these guys on their own turf, with something REALLY important at stake?! I guess the 49ers wanted to prove that they were actually good for once..So it's like this..The Broncos won the coin toss..I felt butterflies in my stomach..I was nervous, oh was I nervous..I felt that I couldn't even watch the rest of the game, but it was a must..And I couldn't count these boys out yet! With the 49ers defense, they were able to force the stallions to punt the ball in which they would get possession for the first time in OT. Before long, they too, were forced to punt, and I knew this one would be close. After a thunderous drive from the Broncos, they STILL weren't able to put the 49ers away! They forced them to punt for the second time in Over Time, which was a surprise to us all! I felt joyful, happy, glad. If they were able to last this long, they would be able to win the game! And so, as I figured, the 49ers dominated on the ground and were able to use Frank Gore to the best of his ability as well as Alex Smith. They handled the ball just as I had hoped and were able to clinch the game with a field goal that make my heart jump. It looked good for a second, then it swayed and the wind looked like it had carried it away. With the broadcasters bogus calls, it made me almost cry out! I closed my eyes, laid my head down, and then I heard the words, "No, it's good! The 49ers won! The 49ers won!" From there, I looked up and jumped to my feet as I applauded.

So, what an interesting story, eh? Two of the three games needed in their favor went into Over Time, wow! What a way to end the year for the Chiefs..Actually, I wouldn't say "ending the year" just yet..We go to Indy this week to face the Colts at their home..Maybe, just maybe, if LJ is able to hold onto the way the way we would like, the Chiefs can pull off a victory that no one expects. Maybe if the defense does decent enough to put pressure of Peyton Manning, we can stop the passing duos. If we can force 3 or 4 turnovers, we would be in good shape. Lets tune in this Saturday at 4:30 PM to find out what happens. Until then, take care!
